Question Anyone hardwire a radar detector?

If so, what did you use for a ground?

I want to hardwire my Passport into the R but I don't see anywhere that I can attach the ground wire to that is near the passenger seat fuse panel.

Also, any interference encountered with the window "black out" area when mounting near the rear view mirror?

Thanks

Here are the pic. I hard wired (Passport Escort 5800) to cigarette plug that route thru behind radio so I can remove anytime I want.
For the detector, I mounted to the left of rear mirror (no interference problem)

AsianR350,
Can you show some pictures on how you install the nav? It looks very nice.
Thanks.

supernsx,

Any GPS should do. Just mount on the dash board and route the wire where ever you want.
In my case, my Tom Tom Go 720 comes with the mounting plate that has 3M back adhesive. Mount the GPS with mounting cup on top of it instead of windshield (remove anytime I want).
If you look on the left of my GPS, there is a black power line that I connected to my cigarette plug ( I could not find any other place to hide the wire and I did not want to drill any hole)
Hope it help.

Please let me know what pic. you want to see so I can take the pic. to show you.

It's Soooo much easier to just get the battery-powered Escort. It works fine.

I just ran the ground over to the driver's side and found a bolt to ground it to under there. Ditto on not having anywhere on the passenger side.

Thanks. Was hoping maybe there was something I overlooked on the passenger side. Will check out the driver's side.
