Finally got her dropped
Ok, finally found some time to get this thing dropped. H&R springs in the front and custom made links in the rear for the air suspension. The rear links are in a testing phase right now. I will ride on them for a few thousand miles and if they hold up Iwill make more if anyone is interested. The rear links will be adjustable once I get them into production (so you can raise and lower the rear easily).

Thanks for the comment. They are 20x9 fronts and 20x10 rears with 275/45/20 tires (little higher profile tires for the wife so she doesn't complain about the ride). Also check out my post on the PIC Thread for options on the car.

does the rear sits level by itself? i know h&r claims 1.4" front and 1.3" rear drop but don't know whether Star or custom rear link is necessary if i can tolerate the 0.1" of difference.

The rear does not lower with just springs
If you install the H&R Springs the rear will not automatically lower itself. You will have to do the star diag. or the rear links. I was driving around like a hot rod for about a week hoping the rears will lower itself, but it never did. I had a gap about 1 1/4" from wheel to wheel well in the front and the rears were about 4".

The Star Diag. (diagnostics) tools is what MB techs use to diagnos you Mercedes automobile. If you own or knows someone who owns a star diagnostics, they can lower the rear (if they are airmatics) through this program (they can actually do alot more than that). If you want I can get some prelim. runs of the rear links going and get you a pair for the rears. I drove on my pre-production links from Denver to California (0ver 1000 miles) last week and they held up very well. With the production run links they will be alot sturdier thatn the pre-production ones. They are very easy to install also, it should only take about 1/2 hour for the two rears.

Why does it not self-level itself when it's called self-leveling suspension?!
I know H&R makes rear links for older X5 with self-leveling rear, why do they choose not to make one for R leave me wonder...
