Dealer Incentive question

The local dealer in Chicago is offering the R350 with Package 2 MSRP $55000 for $42500!

I know MB is offering a Marketing support on this car of $8000.

Should the marketing support be applied to the price I negotiate?

For instance the invoice on the car is $41000, should I offer $42500-$8000 incentive = $34500?

I would love to make this deal if thats the case. I would trade in one of my other cars.

It is worth a try, but about $10K or so off the MSRP is about as much as I have seen. I do not think that the invoice price is $41K from a $55K MSRP. You probably mean $51K. I would say a great deal would be $51K-8K = $43K.

I picked up my R350 in July. The MSRP was $52K and I got the car for $42K with a great price for my trade. So I am sure you can deal now too. You will not get it for $34.5K.

It looks like the price the dealer gave you has already accountable for the 8K incentive.

The $42.5K sounds about right. If you still find the price is too high, you can wait and hope for an even bigger incentive later. However, you are running a risk of not finding the exact car that you want since MB is no longer taking 08 orders.

That is true. No way you can get $34.5K from $55K MSRP.(This is the best deal I ever got).

I got my 08 R350 for $41.200 (MSRP was $51.010) with no trade in

That is good deal.

2009 model will have back up camera that comes in standard and others features. Otherwise, it is carryover from 08.

One other thing, it looks like several options, for example, package 3 are now only available on the 320 CDI. Options for the 350 have been cut back; no leather either except on the diesel.

The options on the 09 R350 confound me. No leather, and no xenons, from what I can tell. I find MB's standard halogens way below par.

Do they want to NOT SELL more of these?

Our R350 comes off lease soon. We would definitely get another but not if our only choice is diesel. We had a loaded '06, but given the price differential of the car, and the cost of diesel - which our closest gas station doesn't even sell - the two together maybe just offset by the better mileage, but also trading a slower 0-60 time according to MBUSA website, sadly we'll be looking for something else I'm afraid if the options don't get straightened out over the next few months. Maybe their just trying to force diesels initially for 09. Is the entire marketing department located in California??

The R350 is still available, not sure where you got the idea that only the R320 Bluetec was the only version being offered. As for the option packages, the U.S. spec 09 model packages are better than they have ever been. P1 now includes the Ipod interface, Nav with 40 gig hard drive, in dash 6 disk/dvd changer, HD radio, rear view camera and 7 seat option all of which were not in the 08 P1. As for the P3 being dropped its because all the options, minus the problematic air suspension have been included in P2 now. The full leather package was dropped because no one wanted to drop $2k on leather that looks the same as the MB Tex. The panorama roof was deleted from the P1 package because everyone ordering P1 opted for the $1k back for choosing the standard moon roof over it, but is still available as a stand alone option.

Thanks. I believe you confirmed my conclusion: if you want leather and air suspension, your only choice is the R320, and you'll pay full price for the pano, We each have our own preferences, and this doesn't meet mine.

No..leather and air suspension has been dropped from both models for 2009. If your going by the build your own page at mbusa.com the R320 CDI is the 2008 model still, the R320 Bluetec version replaces it for 2009 but is delayed at the moment so they are still using the 2008 build your own page for that model. They will update the 2009 R320 Bluetec build your own when it becomes available soon.

On a side note..the MB Tex is just as good as the leather, to be honest it's hard to tell the difference between the two unless you have them side by side, plus the leather package set you back $2k..I could think of other things to spend $2k on. The air suspension is nothing but headaches, check this forum out and you will notice thread after thread of problems and complaints with the system, although I think its gotten better than when it was first introduced it still doesn't surprise me that they dropped it. Yes you will have to now pay for the pano roof if you want it, its not included in P1, but every 2008 R class I've seen has had it deleted in favor of the moonroof and the $1k back. If you want the pano you will most likely have to order it and there goes all the nice discounts you would have received, going to be tough to get a dealer to give you a great deal on a special order.

I have airmatic on my R500 and it is good to set the car in "sport" setting but otherwise, I don't see any use of it. On the other hand, my kids (including the 1 year old) love the pano roof to see the sky and the stars at night and it was a must have when I went shopping for a used R.

Regarding the MB Tex vs. Leather, even you don't see much difference but you do can feel it. My wife's C300 is MB Tex and she definitely prefer my R500's leather a lot more. However, for $2K extra, it is going to be a hard decision.

I'm with you on the pano roof its awesome in person, but if you haven't seen one its tough to shell out the $1k and change for the option over a free moonroof. Out of all the R's I have seen at my dealership over the past few years, none of them have had the pano roof, its just easier to move the vehicle when it isn't full of options I suppose. My point was now that it is a stand alone option and not included in P1 it will be even harder to find one on the lot, so if someone would want the pano roof they would most likely have to place an order and lose out on most of the dealer discounts being offered. Every year MB tweaks their option packages, so if the R is still around for 2010 they may very well include the pano roof in P1 again lol.

2002 Ml-320
R-350 price

I have 2002 Ml-320 with 85,000 and I would say except some minor paint scratches it is overall good condition.

I want to buy used R-350 and few available in my area with 25,000 to 35,00 miles range(Milwaukee,Chicago area- Midwest) with pano roof and asking price is any where from 29,00 to 33,000 with Certified warranty for 1yr or 100,000 miles whichever comes first.

Please suggest what would be the right price and what year will be good(2006 or 2007) and anything special I should look for??

My opinion is if you are going for a CPO R-class, I would definitely take advantage to buy extra warranty from Mercedes for two more years. I believe it runs somewhere around $2500. Btw, you can only buy it when you first pick up the car and not later.

Regarding the price, it varies by color and options. If you are looking at more popular colors (silver, black, Pewter and white) with preimum package, I have seen as cheap as $26K from MB dealerships. If you are willing to be very flexible on colors and options, I have seen as cheap as $23K. You can do a search on the MB USA website on all CPO r-class and you can definity talk down on price. If you are flexible and don't mind to travel a bit, you should definitley get it much cheaper than $29K.

Good luck.
