27 month lease up 1/20/09 so I'm in hunting mode. We had a sticker of 61k or so and dealer added on NAV. Residual value of $40,983 ( cap cost $47506). We only have 20k miles on it. Not in great shape between wife's driving and kids beating it up. Looks and drives fine.
Question is whether to deal with MB finance or let the dealer handle the negotiations. Between boards and ebay I guess for an R500 with our "stuff" I could feel warm and fuzzy with cutting a check for 30k with the 100,000 CPO.
Thanks in advance for advice

i think MB starts to negotiate only at the 90 days until end of lease date. at that point, MB offered me a very good deal that was much LOWER than the original residual. call them and see - my guess is that the price should be close to what MB could get at the auction for the car. they try not to go too low because it could **** off the MB dealer. let us know what happens.

Auction prices
MB Financial is discounting my 06 R by $12600.00 bringing the buyout to $27500.
I looked up completed auction prices from Manhiem Auctions for similar year and millage and the 06 R350 are selling for $20500.00. I can't imagine that MB will be willing to discount the car to that price.

WOW! That's a remarkable drop from the bank AND there's still some more room to boot when compared to the auction prices!

You are all correct. Residual 42k and they will sell for $25,500. Only 20,000 miles. I wish my wife did not "need" a new car. I think it's a great deal but I have to move on to a GL or Q7. High maintenance.

In a similiar situation with my high maintenance counterpart. Had her keep the low mileage R-500 for carpooling, and got a BMW 650 convertible for fun (sticker $94k, monthly lease payment under $900 on a 30 mo/10k yr lease) - made her much happier than a GL, which would have cost more!

Wish I had thought of it. Took the GL at $12,500 under sticker. I do love it. Blows away the R although I would have kept the R if I had the option. What a deal I passed up
