I just bought an '06 R350 with the factory DVD player on the back of the two headrests, and also has the Ipod connector. apparently in this configuration the sound from the dvd player will only come out of the earphones and not the cars speakers. I have 3 year old twins and a one year old, so earphones dont work. Any good solutions?

yes there is an adapter cable available at the dealer that will automatically switch the speaker out from ipod to DVD. talk to your parts dept.
