At the risk of sounding stupid...
Can DVD's be viewed using the "DVD Navigation" slot?

the answer should be in your manuals, but no, you can't.
unless i'm wrong.
however, since I don't have your manuals, I need you to check for me.
post back when you do, thanks.

Swap a 2009/2010 Nav system into a 2007?

If you have the 2009 + R class you can buy this module and watch dvd's on the command and stream video to it from an outside source. However for 2006,2007,2008 - from what i understand they do not have the built in dvd decoding in the command system so it won't work with these model years.

I am not sure but the guys at mid city know a lot about this stuff... i would recommend you call them - if you do get the dvd's to play on your 2007 r class let me know. I want to do the same myself.

Anyone know something on this???
Seems a little silly that it reads DVD nav discs and not DVD's.
Something in the programming?

I am not an expert by far...but I am certain it is in the type of data nav info is encoded in vs. a typical DVD movie. The Nav system processor is not programmed to decode the movie formats. The only reason it is a DVD reader is likely because a DVD disc has a large capacity. My 2000 W163 used CD maps, and it was 10 regional discs to cover all of North America. Now that NAV reader could play music CDs too.
