IMHO doing this without reference to factory procedures is false economy.

They're available either via DVD or at startekinfo.com

Mercedes R350 navigation installation

Thanks to all of you fox for details explanations that I was able to install new DVD brain and off market antenna on R350 2008 Mercedes and didn't have to open carpet on the back and it was like surprisingly easy!
I purchased one from euro on e-bay and they send me all explanations, if anyone needs pictures or more details let me know.
Next project rear camera, any advice? My best regards, Mike.

You start by removing the A/C panel. Now I don'tactually advise using a Swiss army knife, but it serves to show where you haveto go. Insert a slim blade (or even the correct tool!), feel for the clip, push, wiggle, and pry gently...

...and one side pops out. There's an identical clip on theother side, but I didn't have to work on it; just a gentle pull, twist, andwiggle on the A/C panel and the whole thing popped out.
Here's a couple of close-ups... above, the clip you're trying to release.Below...

...the molding it locks into.
With the A/C panel out of the way, you can see the two silver clips that securethe head unit. Loosen the Torx screws just enough to slide the clips gentlydown, and the head unit will just slide out.

Refitting is the reverse of removal, when refitting the A/C panel it's best toput the bottom in first, and get that aligned before you push the top in andlock the clips.

Hope this helps!

And now some words for the search engines:

Once the HVAC panel is out, you should see two metalbrackets below the COMAND. First remove the 2 screws that hold these bracketsin place. Then slide them down. They might be hard to slide down, but if youuse pliers to get a better grip, it should be fine. Once the brackets are down, the COMAND comes out easily.
