Is the R supposed to make a noise or chirp when locked?
Just curious, my W204 chirps when the doors are locked but my '08 R doesn't make any sound just the lights flash. Since I don't have power folding mirrors it's hard to guess if I locked it or not at times. Does the car have the "chirp" feature and it's just turned off in the programming or do they not do this at all. Thanks in advance

I'm glad mine doesn't chirp. Hearing the door locks and seeing the lights flash are enough for me.

The noise is the "clunk" from the locks moving.

If you'd had an '80s Mercedes with vacuum-actuated locks, you'd think these positively raucous!
