another tire question for 19" wheels

just bought a set of 19 x 8 OEM situlas and am looking at tires. is anyone running 285/45-19 instead of the stock 255/50 -19? tirerack lists the 285's as an alternate size. the tires are exactly the same circumference but the 285's are 1.2" wider...

I have 285/45-19 mounted on rear wheels. It doesn't actually make much difference, you cannot easily see that they are 3 cm wider than front tires because actually when they mount on the wheels, they little bit "squeeze" in the width. Also, it doesn't look like they fit so well in the factory wheels because they are anyway over 1" oversize. So I would just go with OEM size

BTW, I have currently 275/45-19 waiting for mounting. Need to replace the current ones pretty soon.

Back to topic. Did you already mount the tires on those wheels? I actually realized they are only 8" wide so I'm thinking even 255 will be a problem. There was some thread here where someone listed factory wheel sizes but somehow that thread is gone now (it was just few weeks ago I last time posted on that).

If someone knows the factory wheel dimensions for 18" and 19" wheels, please list here. Because I'm actually considering similar setup for my winter tires, having 8" wide wheels but not sure if 255/50/19 will fit on them.

Edit: Just found it:
https://mbworld.org/forums/r-class-w...pattern-r.html

And factory wheels are actually 8" wide in most options for R
