"Check Engine" light came on - then went off

I have an 08 R320 with 60,000 miles on it.

About 2 weeks ago my "Check Engine" light came on. All fluids were okay and the car ran great.

I called the service manager and he stated that light comes on mostly because of emission sensors. He stated there are 18 of them and bring it in my next time when passing through.

Today the light came on with start up, but never stayed on.

Has this happened to anyone else?

this has happened to me many times. advisor always said it was sensors being too sensitive. no problems with the car.

after you fill up the tank with fuel make sure to hear that cup click a few times. tank air presure can switch check engine light on and off.

Well, after a new tank of fuel & "clicking" the cap a few times, the light has stayed off.

Little disappointed in the dealer for for saying the car reported a bad fuel rail sensor and it should be replaced. They should inform people of these potential fixes. (What a nice world that would be, huh?)

Needless to say, thanks for the help. Your advice actually saved me some money.

This happened to us with 06 R350 while on road trip south this past winter. As we were traveling we didn't want any problems so made an appointment with nearest MB dealer in Fla and it turned out to be just that...fuel tank lid. It couldn't work out better as this dealer had a cafe where you could order whatever you wanted for breakfast lol so we had a free breakfast and free car wash. We've had donuts, etc but never a full breakfast at MB dealers.
