Nice to have you with us.
I have the same car with 75,000 miles and it's been a great car. Just like "BallJack" said, you'll love it on the highway.
I just had my 1st issue with it - I sensor in the tailpipe and a bad glow plug. Not bad at all.
If you don't mind me asking - what did you pay for it?

I'm not sure of the option packages, I've been looking for a 2008 R Class Brochure in pdf.
27800 miles, Paid $28650.
Pretty happy, It's for the wife.
I got the 3 Series for me, 2006 BMW 325i 6MT fun car.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Just took a 1,000 mile road trip in a 2010 GLK as a svc loaner from SF to LA(cruise around) and back. Although I LOVED the GLK when we had it last time driving around town, I found out the impact of the shorter wheel base on this trip - wow!!! I will never take the R-Class for granted ever again.
P.S. The built-in iPod on the command was there, but I'd call it frustrating at best. Other than the charging feature, I think better to have the iPod in my hand to get faster access to songs - and avoid the Shuffle feature(which kept turning on by itself).

That's an awesome deal! That makes your R Class ownership even sweeter. Have fun and look forward to those long trips with the family.
