Noise when I change gears, is this normal?
I was at a stop today (with no radio on) and decided to shift to P, there was a little grind sound. I decided to shift to R, same noise; D, same noise.
My son asked if I was ready to take it back and get my Mazda...not yet.
When I arrived home I decided to do another test. It did make a noise, but not the same intensity. It now sounds more like a robotic transition hum.
Is this something I need to be worried about or am I just being paranoid?![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
Thank you for your help. SP

It's normal.
Your little bitty movement of the shift control obviously does not move the gears in the transmission, and this is accomplished by an electric solenoid.

I've always had this grind noise. For the first couple of months I would take it to the dealer to check and see if there was anything wrong, nadda. Now over 70k miles and still making the same sound, but running strong.
