How much has any one towed with an R350 V6 3.5L 7 speed?
I have a class 3 hitch on mine and I want to use it

I have the diesel and have towed plenty.

My weight limit is 3500 pounds and the car does good.

I'll keep it out of overdrive though.

I believe that before the 2010 model, MB DOES NOT recommend towing. In the owner's manual's you will not see anything regarding towing a trailer until the 2010 manual.

FYI, I have the factory hitch, that was installed by the dealer after delivery, as none of the cars in stock anywhere had been ordered with hitches. Looks exactly the same as the factory install of course. Apparently, the cars come pre-wired, to a certain extent. At least as far as the rear SAM, I believe. As soon as you plug a trailer in, the car knows that it's there. It monitors the trailer's bulbs, shuts off the rear proximity sensor, and adjusts the ESP to compensate for the trailer. According to the manual, the ESP is even able to detect a swaying trailer and take appropriate measures to settle it down.

Smile Just installed my hitch and tows fine...

I just finished installing the Drawtite Hitch on my 2007 R350 today and tested it out towing around our 3200 lbs (3260 GVWR) 2001 Coleman Utah CP Pop-up Tent trailer. It towed great! The car adjusted its height in the rear once I lowered the trailer onto the ball and there is more than enough power regarding acceleration.

The next thing I'll be doing is installing the Drawtite trailer wiring harness with trailer brake controller.

I will attach a picture.

Happy towing!

Everything still good? I'm going to be installing a hitch on our 2006 R350 to tow a pop-up. I've been getting different opinions from Mercedes and the camper people on whether or not you can tow with this vehicle. Anny additional input would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi, I know this is an old post but how did this work out for you and what kind of engine is/was your r350? Considering adding a tow hitch and getting a pop up for our 2010 r350 4matic with 95k miles. Thanks!
