question about A/C
Hello, everyone, My car is 08 r350. on the A/C panel, there is a button for "A/C REST"
I read the manual, the chart has two different informations regarding this A/C REST, One is for A/C COOLING ON/OFF, One is for RESIDUAL HEAT VENTILATION.
I got confused. What is this A/C REST for and should i leave it ON or OFF when i turn on the A/C?
Thank you very much for the answer.

The button has two functions:
Engine running: the button toggles the AC on/off
Engine off: the button runs the water pump and fan to continue heating the car

This is actually a very good feature to have in Germany, not so much in the US. Germans are very attuned to saving energy as much as possible. It is considered the proper thing to do to shut off ones engine while waiting in line at a train crossing, long traffic light, or whatever line. You are considered a very anti-social person if you sit in an idling car. Even if it is quite cold outside, you just don't let a car idle for long. This feature allows you to shut off the engine for a while without freezing.
Many new European cars even have a feature which shuts off the engine for you if you sit for a few seconds and restarts it automatically when you step on the gas pedal.

Yes indeed the Europeans are more energy conscious. The fact that gasoline costs four times as much as in the US however necessitates such actions. I spend about $70 to fill my car. I'd take the bus to work too if I had to spend $280.
