Bought one today!
I've been looking for a while for a good used CPO 2007 to 2008 model. The ones I found either didn't have options I wanted or was sold by the time I got to them.
I found a good deal on a 2010 model that a dealer has a fleet of R-Class cars for his loaner courtesy fleet. R350 5200 miles, Silver with Panorama roof, Premium 1 package, wood steering wheel, front heated seats, rear heated seats, Backup camera, Navigation, iPod interface and cable, Satellite radio, rear seat DVD entertainment, AMG 19" wheels for $46,000. I could do without the DVD player, but it was there. So, for $10,000 more than I had planned, I got 2 years newer and 30K fewer miles. The warranty will run for 4 and a half years and 100,000 miles, so that is better than new.

AMG C36, 2010 R350 BlueTEC 4-Matic
Congratulations!
I think you did great. You got a VERY well equipped car.
As well, the 2010's have a nicer nav/command system and can be fitted with the factory tow hitch if you so desire. They also came with the larger wheels and the AMG styling package. And you've GOT to love that additional warranty. I think you definitely got your $10K's worth.
This time last year, I went through a similar experience. I was looking for a used 2009, but ended up getting a great deal on a 2010 demo. I got really lucky. The car had under 100km on it and had been on the road for less than a day; but they gave me the demo pricing none the less!
FYI,
The only disadvantage to the wood steering wheel is that you lose the heated steering wheel feature, which could be a total non-issue depending on where you live.

Thanks. The heated wheel is not the same as the standard wheel, but a different option. This one came with the wood, but they had swapped it out for someone else for the standard. I made them swap back for the wood.
About the only things I would have changed are the color (would have chosen Capri Blue) and I would have chosen diesel and no dvd player for about the same price.

Congrats on your purchase. You did an exhaustive research it seems, and it paid off for you.
You bought the kind of car that makes the grin on your face you have today last for years!!!

congrats - i think we take it for granted how nice the R-class is in CA when doing kiddie shuttling, but when it rains or snows or we go on long trips, i can't imagine a better car...71k miles and 2 more years of CPO

I just picked it up from the dealer tonight and drove it home in a raging snow storm. Accidents all around me. I guess that was a good introduction to the car.
