2009 R350 hitch, does MB dealer have Original Equipment?
im trying to install a hitch on my 2009 R350. anyone know if i can buy original from dealer?
also, do you know if i need to change or cut out back bumper?
if they dont have Original Equipment from MB delaer, which other brand do you recomend?

I have an aftetmarket hitch. I preffer the oem over the aftermarket for the design of it.

They can order it in for you.
There are two parts that need to be ordered separately. The hitch itself, and the wiring kit. The car is largely prewired but there is a wiring kit that runs from the rear SAM to the hitch connections themselves. Among other things, the car will automatically set up its stability program to monitor trailer sway and will also shut off the rear proximity sensors automatically as soon as you plug a trailer in. The dealer will need to program your car to let it know that the hitch is installed, if you want these features.
The rear bumper has a notched "cutout", for the hitch that you remove. Its marked on the inside.
The parts are pricy, but definitely worth it. I was able to negotiate a substantial discount.

mercdriver-Do you have a mb part number to that wiring kit? The reason I'm asking is because the local dealer told me that kit could not be ordered. They also said that the only way to get it was to order it from the factory as an option on a new car.
I just knew that parts person was full of it! Can't believe I bought it.

Surprisingly, my 08 hitch and wiring harness came from JC Whitney & more surprisingly it works great.
My dealer said that's all they do is get aftermarket stuff that works because MB doesn't offer anything.

USA hitch kit for 2009 on is 251 310 03 95
It's the only USA part on the page so it COULD be the assumption it's the complete kit.

Not sure about that. I DO remember them having to order to separate parts. They also asked me whether or not I even wanted the wiring harness as they thought that, like most people, I may have just wanted the hitch for bike racks, etc.

merdriver- Thanks for getting back to us. Look forward to seeing part numbers for the wiring kit. By the way, I think the drawtite hitch look great with the r class. There was less cuting of the bumper cover and the hitch itself looks stronger. I'll try to post pic's of it when I get home from work.
