OEM hitch for 2011
Anyone know how to get the OEM hitch for a 2011 R350 BlueTech? I called my dealer's parts department and they said the hitch is a factory order item only. It can't be installed by the dealer and isn't even available to order. Is that true? They told me to go to a tow hitch place down the street to see what they have.

2011 R-Class hitch
My local dealers quoted an OEM hitch that they could install, but the part and install quote was incredible ($2500 CDN ++). Apparently the install involves removing the rear bumper etc. Meanwhile, most hitch shops will quote a Cequent Hidden Hitch or equivalent (part # 87413). Some minor trimming of the plastic trunk pan is required. Also, the 2011 bluetec trunk pan is not exactly as Hidden Hitch shows in their install instructions. Cost for the Hidden Hitch solution, installed, is around $300 CDN. Since my purpose was only to attach a bike carrier, this seemed like the best option. The part #87413 is a class III hitch. I did not hook up for electric tail lights and would recommend caution before letting just any hitch shop getting into the German-designed and Tuscaloosa-built electric system.

Dealer Installed Factory Hitch
The OEM hitch can be ordered and installed by a dealer. As kembartiga said, it is upwards of $2000 because of the labour involved. Works well and integrates into the bumper.
My hitch was installed as part of the deal when I purchased my car. There were no cars in the system in the colour and options with a hitch so the dealer offered it as a part of the deal. Took a day for them to install.
They did an OK job, but messed up a bit with the trim cutting. I thought they cut too big a hole and it was off-center. But there is actually a trim-cover plate that snaps on and off which covers everything except the receiver (of course my selling dealer denied that they messed up and didn't include the cover). I found this out at my new dealer (I gave up on the selling dealer after one too many lies - long story). I tried the plate from an R which was in their showroom and it will fit. With the trim plate it looks identical to a factory installation.
Here are pictures.
Hope this helps.

My dealer took care of everything for me on my 2011 R Diesel. I think I paid $750 for everything.
It has a 2 inch receiver and looks great, like factory. The wiring was done by them too. Someone in Eau Claire Wisconsin does them.
Call Zimbrick Euro in Madison WI & they'll give you in the info. 608-258-4000

The part number on mine (dealer installed) is:
A2513100404. R251
It looks like the mfg is "Flex N Gate".
That's the only info I can see.

I know this is old but, I have a factory hitch availible.
Looks like we are going to sell or trade our 2011 R350 and I will be pulling the factory hitch and selling it separately. I have the full hitch package with the 4 correct missing bolts form the factory package and the 2 black parts for the factory bumper.
I will post a couple of pictures if requested. The install is pretty quick requiring no cutting and took me just over an hour to complete.
Thanks

I have an '11 diesel and really want a factory hitch. I had an aftermarket one on my '06 and just hated how it looked, and dragged.
The dealer here in Portland is telling me he can get a factory kit. But with only a 1 1/4 receiver. I've seen pictures of factory 2" receivers.
Anybody have a part number or other help?

I've seen european type hitches online for about 450 Euro. I think those are 2". I wonder if shipping would be reasonable. It's quoted as about 85 Euro, but sometimes shipper will collect taxes when we receive the item here.
I inquired at at ECS tuning, about $1500!
I hope someone would make an OEM type.
I wonder if the ML would fit behind out bumpers.

Any updates on this. Picking up a 2012 r350 next week and I want to add a trailer hitch for my sons go kart trailer. Don't think I want to go to the stealership, aftermarket would be good if it fits properly.

So I found an OEM hitch from a 2009, guy took it off last week, I just have to pick it up. Is it hard to remove the rear bumper and can I just get the SAM reprogrammed?

I don't think the rear bumper is hard to remove. the reprogramming from the dealership might cost you some money thou. Keep us posted. Interested to see your result.

So I had the hitch installed on Friday, the salvage yard i got the hitch from cut the red power wire so I don't know where it goes? I was able to plug in the other wires with the supplied connector into the Sam. Plugged in the trailer but no lights work when I tap the breaks. Does anyone know what/Where the red power wire goes and if I have to add the 3 fuses according to the fuse schematics, it say 70, 71,72 all belong to the trailer? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
