R500 Panoramic Roof Stuck Open
Looking for help to fix a panoramic roof that is stuck in the fully open position. The re-sync procedure described in the owners manual does not work. The sun blind works but the roof does not move. The manual advises that this is a dealer fix, but I am reluctant to go there.
In addition to this latest problem:
I had to add supplementary wiring to the rear lights to stop the error messages.
The center consul rear entertainment system does not work.
The navigation screen has failed.
The blocked reed valve problem cost me $3,000 to fix flooded components.
All this under 50,000 miles - but out of warranty.
The electronics on this car are junk and a disgrace to the Mercedes name. My 2002 Ford Explorer with more than twice the mileage has no real problems.
Feedback on the roof problem would be very much appreciated.

I have the similar roof and taillight problem. It was fixed under warranty once (power motor replaced and some other small parts). Now, out of warranty, the operation is not smooth again. I couldn't close it all the way once and had to let it rest for a while and kept holding on the close switch until it closed. It sounded like the gears are all messed up. damn!!! Mercedes really sucks at these.

I had to go the MB dealer in Windsor fixed the pano roof. Needed a replacement switch.
You could try to re-sync the roof following the procedure in the manual, but don't blame me if you cannot close it.
