R500 Nav/Radio Screen Background
Hello everyone! I'm hoping you guys here can help end a discussion I'm having with someone regarding the Nav/Radio screen on her R500. We don't have a manual and I've been unable to find anything online.
We went into a parking garage and after a second, the background on the radio screen changed to darker tones (white font on dark background). We hit the roof of the garage and after a second the screen changed to lighter tones (dark font on white background). I believe this is caused by a light sensor and my thought process is that a person probably doesn't want a bright white light emitting if they're driving at night.
Can anyone confirm this behavior and explain the theory behind it? Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer to your problem, but here's a link to the Mercedes Command manuals:

I hope this helps.

Yes that is normal behavior and is controlled by the light sensor. Same sensor that controls the automatic headlights.
It's purpose is to reduce cockpit lighting/glare at night.
