3rd row seats uncomfortable?
#2
My parent sit there sometimes and don't complain. Then again, they only sit there for a short amount of time. My 8 year old sat in the third row for 12 hours once on a trip and didn't complain.

All of our passengers back there (both children and adults) found them extremely comfortable, if a little awkward to reach at times.
You do have to check and make sure that the seat-backs are properly reclined and that the headrests are properly adjusted. When you set up the seats from the stowed position the backs will stay vertical, if you don't recline them and raise the headrests enough (which is quite high), the rear seats can be quite uncomfortable. Our children complained about that the first couple of days we had the R until we figured it out.

I have to say, I'm disappointed. Having only 6 seats in a luxury car you would've thought all seats would've been comfy. Reality is only 4 seats are comfortable, so this is worse than a sedan. Just venting If anyone has any other tricks on how to make those rear seats more comfortable, please let me know.

If you seat in the third seat of Acura MDX, Honda Pilot and most midsize SUVs, you will want to go back R class cross over.
Note: Most of them are good for kids and uncomfortable for adults. R class third seat is designed for adults and 2nd row is just like you seat in 1st class Air Lines.
Mine 7 seats R class can seat 3 in the second row seat without any problem.(It becomes a bench seat)

Mmmmm... I guess it's debatable but I consider this a minivan, not a crossover. Compared to just about any other minivan, this is the worst 3rd row seat ever. Now considering it is a Benz, makes it even less arguable.

MB did not design the R as a minivan.

I think vectorz was firing back responses without having actually tried to recline them correctly, and probably with the wrong headrest height as well. Hopefully he's figured out how to use them properly by now.

My 15 year old pics the rear seats all the time. .She gets peace away from her 9 year old brother!
Regarding minivan seats. Times are changing. We have a 2002 Odyssey and the rear seats are very big, and high up. The new odessey with more stylish look has much smaller rear seats. And Chrysler minivan rear seats are no better.

MD to Vancouver in about three days - 9 year old in the 3rd row didn't complain other than having to climb over all the bags we packed. Return trip currently underway and no complaints yet.

No complaints about comfort, but.... When my kid and a cousin got back there for the first time after usually riding in the second row, they described it "like being in the basement of a really nice house" because of the closer quarters and more limited visibility!

My 18year old and 21 year old never said anything since we had the car in 2009. But when ever they did sit back there, it was never for more than an hour.

Yes.....rented a luxo one over the summer....looks pretty comfortable to me
don't get me wrong, I agree that the r's third row is second to none, but not everyone shares the same opinion.

Hello to all.
Could you please clarify me the following:
1. Do the back of the seats in 2nd row have reclining adjustment?
2. Same question for 3rd row (though i understand of what is written so far that they do recline adjustably)
3. Are there cupholders in 2nd and 3rd row? (if possible to have some photos i would appreciate it)
4. When in 5+2 seats configuration and middle seat is folded does it serve as a comfortable armrest?
In case you are wondering for this kind of questions let me give you the context. I am considering strongly to get this car (long version) and use it as an executive taxi-cab. If you have any comments on that I will be happy to hear.
Thank you all in advance, have nice and safe journeys with your cars.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. Very wide and comfortable armrest.
Some observations particular to the R class. Do not buy any pre-2008 model year R class. Use Rain-X on the front windshield so the blades won't make a noise. The front cup holder has a plastic insert piece which is removable and doubles as a bottle opener! In my opinion, the R class would be a great taxi. I will take pics of some of the items discussed here and send them to you via private message.

Many many thanks.
It has to be anyway post 2011 model year. I guess any infant problems would be over by now. Reliability is among top five criteria to choose (along with comfort, safety, class, 6+ seats).
