Diesel GlowPlugs come on again after start
2008 R320
on starting the engine, I hold the key in position II for a few seconds until the glow plug light goes up, then start. Immediately after the glow plug light turns on again for may 30 seconds, a few hundred yards of driving.
Any clue what it is? Check engine light is on also.. I should try to pull the codes.

You need to pull the codes. It sounds like the glow plug controller. If it was a bad glow plug, the light would stay on until the code is cleared, at least this is how my cdi acted.

They changed a glow plug not under warranty, but that did not fix the problem. So then they changed the glow plug relay under warranty. That fixed it, and claimed that the bad relay broke the glow plug so both where covered under extended warranty! It was a good week at the dealers. The also change a rear air spring and 2 front shocks under warranty.
