Greater tire wear front or rear?
What end has more tire wear on our beloved R Class?
What have you noticed?
Long story but finding it impossible to find a single used tire after an irreparable puncture last fall. Thinking of buying a pair of Continental Contacts and putting them on the end that has least wear, to make the existing used tires wear out fastest.
thanks

I haven't noticed any difference yet; but I rotate mine overtime I switch from summers to winters. I put a tag on them when I take them off indicating which corner they came off.

yeah. I got that puncture on the way back from when I visited you. I found a pair of used tires and had them mounted by CND Tire... but they had bubbles on them.... So they dismounted them again.. and thru miss communication they threw them out. I got a CND gift card in return... At least they made good on that.
So I am sort of weary on buying more used tires.

I stay away from used tires for that very reason. I've never had much luck with them.
Check out pmctire.com they have some very reasonably priced tires and they'll ship them to you for free.
I bought the Sailun - Terramax CVR - 255/50R19 107V XL SKU: S2001641 from them. Not the smoothest tires, but they have great tread wear life and they're only about $150 per tire.

My previous R came with new Barum, made by conti... not very happy with them at all. I have been thru a few cheap tires.. had some of the Yokahama Avid Envigour on my C class and they died very quickly.. So I am a Michelin convert.

I agree Michelin tires are really nice, I just find their tread life isn't all that great, and I'm tired of paying for a new set of tires every year, especially expensive ones at that.

Another good option is General. I find quality and handling very comparable to Michelin, though not quite as sticky. They are a lot better price (about half) and have a lot better tread wear (about double).

I just checked Latitudes have a treadler rating of 720. That's really good! It would be interesting to see if they actually hold up; UTQG's are notoriously arbitrary and unfounded. I usually find that long-life tires get out-of-round long before the tread wears out.
My experience has always been with Pilot Sports. I compare them to the General UHPs.
I had a set of BFG's that lasted me 120,000kms on my ML320. Lot's of tread left, but became horribly out-of-round.

I say that because miss-matched tread is bad on anything... but really bad for an AWD vehicle....
As for tires... we had a fantastic experience with Yokohama's on her car. Great ride, no noise, and good all season grip... I don't think they make the Avid Ascend in 19's though...
