R350 Blutech exhaust smell in cabin
Greetings Forum!
I just purchased a gorgeous '12 R350 BluTech. It's got 90k miles, and has been fully maintained. I had to travel 800 miles to get it, and drove it home with no issues what so ever. Gas mileage was just over 30 mpg, despite strong headwinds and several mountain passes. Every mile was more enjoyable that the previous!
Fast forward a week: I'm on a 120 mile road trip. I noticed mpg was down slightly, then I started notice exhaust gas smells. Shortly later, the check engine light came on. Codes revealed:
16cc00-ad blue tank low (I just added 2 gallons)
16a00 - boost pressure control is too high
16e100 - development data
108800 - signal from cam sensor is faulty
16b200 fuel filter heating element has an open circuit
The exhaust smell is strong under the hood. An initial visual inspection has doesn't reveal anything obvious.
Can anyone give me some direction on where to start with this?
Thanks in advance
JC

That is odd. Do you hear the engine sounding louder. Normally, even running, the car smells less than a gas engine. All I can tell you is that the diesel engine in the Mercedes cars aren't being pushed enough. This created excessive soot buildup and possible exhaust back pressure. Give it an Italian tuneup and see how it works after that.
