R 420 CDI
I notice that the board underforum says: R-Class (W251)Produced 2006-2013: R320CDI, R350, R420CDI, R500
Well there was never a R420 CDI right? It would have been cool, but here in Europe we got the R350 CDI with the OM642 as the biggest diesel afaik. Nowhere can I find a R420 CDI.

My guess is this is a typo by the board administrator - there was a 420CDI V8 available in Europe but IIRC limited as option for ML, GL, S, and E models.
As far as I know it was not fitted to W251 - fitting such a motor would be of limited benefit, and make for even-less-accessible maintenance procedures.
This motor was designated OM628 and was followed by an OM629 which was a higher output variation.
Hope this helps.

I know of the 420 CDI engine, I have had an E420 CDI myself. But after getting to know that engine, I would much like to have it in my R-class also. That is why I wondered if there is any R420s out there, if it were I would have got one. But clearly there isn't any. Too bad!
