Help with Panoramic sunroof

Hi guys, a few days ago I bought a second hand 2008 R320 CDI 4Matic Long from a local car dealer (I live in Italy).
There are some things that need to be fixed. One of these is the panoramic sunroof. The dealer said that it wasn't working, but didn't specify the problem. So today I started looking at it properly.
First of all, this is how it looks from the outside

That corner does not seem to be in the right position, what could be the cause? Wouldn't rain water pass through that gap (even though I haven't noticed any water infiltration from the inside)?

Then I went inside to check the motor, and this is what I found

No motor at all!
There seem to be two motors missing, is it correct? Are they the same type of motors or do they differ from each other?
Also, how would they be connected to the wire harness of the console? There are two unused plugs in the console, one on each side.

Thanks!

The panel being like that indicates someone has removed the cover before and broke one of the clips on the inside. It is not designed to seal from rain; it's more for preventing wind noise. You can pry it up and remove it very easily.

As for the motors, best bet would be to try to source them from a junkyard complete with harness. Our cars share a lot in common with the same era ML and GL, so you can try taking a look at those.

Hi, thanks for your help.
Glad to know that it is not supposed to seal from rain, even though I wonder where the water goes, is there a drainage inside or does it just stay in there until it dries up?

As for the motors, are they the same type but with different harness? Which one controls the glass and which one controls the curtain?

They appear to be the same, but I would need to pull the headliner down to figure it out. Harnesses are definitely different. The part number of the motor directly above the console is 164 820 14 42, which means it comes directly out of the ML/GL parts bin.
