R350 -09 won’t start when it’s hot
Hi,
I’m having these issues with my R350 (gas). When it’s cold it starts fine. After driving when engine is hot it won’t start. When I switch a key nothing happens. Like it doesn’t recognize a key. After many tries it starts. Usually it takes about 5-15 minutes to start again. I’ve tried to google but didn’t find a similar case.
Help?

Bad starter and/or battery. Get your battery load tested, and if it checks out fine, replace the starter. If it doesn't, replace the battery, and if it has difficult hot starts, replace the starter too.

Been there, done that.
The dealer will ask you first if you know your keys are good. It's easier to break than you may have gathered...
The other suspect is the EIS (Ignition/lock module in the dash).
A new key is the first thing they will recommend you get, because it's so much cheaper than replacing the EIS.
Although there is also a very good thread on this forum, worth reading.

User thumbdoctor and others have been able to fix the EIS.
Unless your willing to open up the module and are confident soldering, you'll more likely be buying the module.
In my case, a new key did it.
Strangely enough, 2 years later my spare key is now recognized.
But it still doesn't remote-unlock the car. Grr. Good thing the new one does.
