2006 R350 Gas Leak
Hey guys, new here, owned by R350 for about 2-3 years now. Wanted to take the R class on a little 60mile small road trip to see my girlfriend's family. Upon hitting the highway, I filled my tank 3/4 of the way and got on the road. After only going 40 miles I noticed I had already used 1/4 of the gas. This was very concerning to me as the dash said I was getting a very good 22mpg. At arrival, I noticed a gas smell from the passenger side rear in front of the wheel. There was liquid gasoline leaking in a small amount from there, around the tank area but could not pinpoint the exact location, and upon starting the engine again nothing leaked out visibly. I am technically on vacation with no tools and I cannot investigate much further. I understand the tank itself could be cracked, but is there any other possible causes? I absolutely have to drive the car the 60 miles back home tomorrow, and there is no shop open here I could take it to.
