Question 10 R350 ESP Problem

I let my R350 set for a while outside. I didn't have it on trickle charger, and the battery ran down. I tried recharging it to discover that the battery wasn't in very good shape. So, I replaced it with a new H8 AGM battery. I reset all the codes and tried driving it. I immediately got two codes. In ESP3, 5025, one or more signals sent from the control unit Engine management via the CAN bus is implausible. And in ME97, 1061, the load limit is active.

I do have a Xentry system, so I can post the report with stored and current values if that would be helpful.

This car did run and drive fine before I parked it. It does also have the 0189, P2111 for the intake manifold fault. But, it has had that for a while, and that code does not set the CEL.

Any and all advice, gratefully received.

I understand that with a flat or disconnected battery, it can pay to switch the ignition to position 2 for 15 minutes (don't start it) and wait for all the modules to power up, assuming you have a good battery with at least 12.7v.

You might need to go through clearing the codes on multiple occassions. The ESP code is a typical problem when you lose voltage. Id get your alternator tested as well. Less than 13.7v engine on and 12.7 engine off and there's a problem. As these cars get older, check your grounds as well. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Thank you for this. It is very helpful to me. I didn't realize the link between flat batteries and ESP faults generally. I tried googling "mercedes flat battery ESP fault." I got a lot a hits. So, I have a lot of reading to do

sounds likely your ESP internal connections are now defective and need repair.
