Hi All,
I may have lost my mind, but felt compelled to save an 07 R500 from a kid who was using it as his school beater. Other than general neglect, it is still a beast. I have addressed most of the operational issues but just found that the bearings on the lower steering shaft are shot and the steering is binding up. I did change the PS fluid first, but the bearing is visibly shot.
I tried MB Parts and a dealer and looked at other sources and only keep coming up with part number A 251 460 00 10 and all of them say "w/o power adjustable steering column". Of course, my R500 has power adjustable steering. Could it be gotten without it?!
The actual part number label on the shaft is A 251 460 00 70
Mercedes Parts and the dealership say that part number does not exist.
Any word of wisdom, up to and including- run away- are welcome, although I must say I am really growing fond of this odd duck.
Thank you in advance!
Tom

The $56 A-Premium version of the part on Amazon shows up as compatible with the R63, which as I understand basically only came fully optioned. A couple of Mercedes sites list 251 460 00 10 as compatible with the R63, while some others don't. I would give that a try first.
