2008 R350 & 2008 C300
Actually, according to U.S. vehicle registration info, there were 38 2007 Model Year R63's registered in the U.S. last year and 50 registered thus far this year for a total of 88. There are almost certainly a handful of unsold R63's on dealer lots that will add slightly to this total but it appears that the total number of R63's in the U.S. won't exceed 100. This represents less than .3% of total R Class Registrations. In any case it is and will be a very rare vehicle!

AFAIK, the last "new" one sold was a silver/ash R63 in Hartford, CT... it was the owner's demo, so it never showed up in any searches.
It finally was offered for sale in fall 07 with a couple thousand "demo" miles.... I'll bet no customer ever got to demo it though !
I'd sure like to find a lightly used one... majestic black with macadamia would be my first choice.

As I understood Mercedes is going to sell all R types from september 2007 in the AMG look without charges. They call this a facelift!!!! They even drop the AWD system to justify much lower salesprices! Nobody can tell if they still will produce the ultimate R63 AMG version, which is in my opinion the most excellent, versatile, powerfull and comfortable car without any competition (That's why I bought it). Maybee the R63 AMG will become the most rare Mercedes ever build!
Does anyone know exact productionnumbers?

They didn't build many and demand is there, or they didn't build many because nobody wanted one.
Either way, at some point those will become almost cult cars. We have actually sold a couple of them, but demand just doesn't seem to be very strong, but I am tied into a pretty solid network and I am always being offered cars, so PM me if you are serious about one.

There is one cruising around in the Philly area that was bought at MB of Cherry Hill. FWIW, my Father had an R500 4-matic for a year......when he went to trade it in, no dealer wanted the thing. They can't sell them. In Philly the R350 looks like it has become the new 'wanna look like a pimp but have no money ride' because they are leasing them so cheap now.
All in all, like it or not, it was freaking very cool to see an R63 parked on the street; 21 inch wheels and all. Everyone thought I was nuts for drooling over a mini-van.

R63 AMG w/ roof rack and luggage carry all, rear entertainment, backup cam, & 2 sets of amg wheels
yes it is
As we all know the AMG version of the R-class was discontinued for 2008 after only 44 were sold stateside and less than that outside the states. For a total of less than 100 built and sold. At those numbers the R63 is more rare than the Mc Larens that are gaining popularity in todays culture. This is my first post on this site after finding the site today. I am sad to say that I am looking into selling my blue rice killer, as I am moving to israel and import laws are a pain in the @$$.

When people call this thing ugly, they should remember that it is a van. IMO it is the best looking van ever made, and I would drive one, so rare! That is pretty awesome, if I'm ever forced to buy a van, I hope I can find an r63.

I may have the only heavily modified R63 in the US at my shop. 22" wheels, fully audio/video system, etc. I can't post pics cause they are HUGE! I'm trying to find a good program to shrink them -- any hints?

Interesting that there's another R63 in Seattle.... I've seen a bone stock Cubanite Silver, bone stock Iridium Silver, and of course mine. Then there's a black one that I haven't seen but he's on the boards. If this modded one is local too that'd make at least 5 in the area. (or maybe it's an upbadged car?)
Anyways, with this car you either "get it" or you don't. If I have to explain the car to people, they don't get it.

AMG says 30 MB USA says 44.
If you follow the list of used R63s that have sold on 6speedonlineforum there have been more than 30 different ones that have changed hands so I'm fairly confident that AMG's figure is too low.

R-Class is killed from the US after this year and will continue to be made until 2015 for the rest of the world. No plans for another AMG R Class at the moment and the future of the R Class line after 2015 is uncertain as well.

That looks awesome nbv8! Is that a SWB or LWB? Looks like SWB but I can't tell from the angle. Are those 20" wheels?
BTW according to your figures, how many R63 are in SWB and how many in LWB? I see quite a few available for sale in Germany at any given time.
