Wow, nice.

OP if you are still here,,, How has the car been? Do you still have it?
If you have no problems would you recommend the change to others?
If so do you have a list of mods that you did?

I think I would keep my car if I could do this successfully...

Thanks

The MB dealer made only the can bus and cables modifications.
A friend of mine who repairs damaged cars made the external modifications using original MB parts.

@claimweb
I don't remember if I asked you before or not, but have you retrofitted blind spot assist? Is it possible to do that?

No, I didn't . I think it's impossible.
Next week I'll show you my new steering wheel . It's the same of CLS 63 AMG . I modified the buttons so they are fully integrated.

Here you see the work in progress ...

Very cool Claimweb! But you should install the AMG silver trim (where it says AMG on the bottom instead of airbag) and fit it with the R231 SL leather airbag!

The steering wheel is now fully compatible with NTG2.5 and NTG2.0 .
I modified the inside electronics parts. The central buttons are now black.
I tested it also with a Mercedes ML W164 . All perfect.
I installed it in my car only one day for test.
I'd like to sell a lots of modified steering wheels. I found only a german ebayer who sells it for 1.900 euros.
I think I can sell it for a lower price.

See the photo and video ...

You should have painted the whole caliper and then made reverse stencils for the AMG lettering to be recreated in black. https://mbworld.org/forums/r63-amg-w...ml#post6023289

And I am going for "designo" 2-tone on my calipers.

what did you have to do to make that steering wheel work with the R class I’m actually in the process of doing it myself got the wheel awaiting the air bag. Thought it would be a simple swap but I’m guessing it’s more complex

The electronic upgrade has been done by a friend called Alsad in the italian MB forum. I don't know the single modification but it is not simple.
Now the car is in Germany .. sold 3 years ago.

well I appreciate and thank you for the response guess I just spent 500 American dollars for nothing because I wouldn’t know where to start here in America with getting that done. So it looked great on your build was just trying to follow that up here but guess it’s a no go.

This was going to be the swap but guess it’s a lost cause here in America. 😫😢
