99 S600 Coupe Questions

Hi, I am new to this forum so if this is not the right section to post this question please let me know. I am looking at a 1999 S600 Coupe for sale in the New Jersey area. Being that I live in Dallas and with the current Covid situation preventing travel to the area I can't look at the car in person. It has been for sale for a while which is a red flag. The dealer also has no service records, which is another concern. I was going to see if I could get a PPI done, but other than a local MB dealer I do not know any good independent mechanics in the area. Any suggestions or does anyone know anything about the car? Trying to decide if it is worth the risk or should I pass. I can provide more information on the car if appropriate.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions. Again, if this is not in the right section or forum please let me know.

Have a great day

David

Its going to have the CL designation, since it is a 1999! so if it says s600 on the trunk then something is wrong!

Last year '99 w140 coupes are rare, since its the last year! very few were made, I thing 96 if memory serves me right!
...that being said the v12 motor was in production for a number of years and it is pretty bulletproof, as bulletproof as any good motor are you can still destroy them!
If the oil changes are have been made on time and whomever had it looked after it fairly nicely then it will survive for a number of years to come!
Go look at it if you can, and if it doesn't show the usual signs of neglect then I would consider getting it!

Consider this, its 2 straight six cylinders mated together, so parts are as plentiful as any straight 6 cylinder!
The transmissions are 4 speed as far as i know since no v12 got the NAG 1 580! due to something about not surviving the torque from the v12s!

Do you have any more questions PM me

Later
