Problems receiving 2017, S-550 cabriolet

Timeline.
1. OCT 15: Placed order for 2017 S-550 cabriolet with 5K deposit and cash pay-off. Was advised wait time was 120 days.
2. FEB 15: Dealer advised "due to low production delivery will be extended to Apr 15".
3. Apr 30: Dealer advised that "Due to parts shortage production will be
further delayed. Will advise as to new production date".
I am ready to throw in the towel. I never expected this type of treatment from a M-B dealer.
Has anyone experienced these type of delays when ordering an 2017 S class cabriolet?
Your comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ron

Your dealer is not trying to treat you badly ... production is what it is

throw in the towel and get something else ... why disenfranchise yourself

After seeing the S production line in Germany, I appreciate how complex the kanban system can cause a build to take. Mine took 7 months ARO to show up at my dealer. You can't rush The Best or Nothing.

Thanks for the informative reply. I will relax for another month or so knowing I am not alone in this situation. Will keep all informed on the progress of the delivery.
Thanks again.

Dealer called today the car is at the German port. It took almost 6 months from time of order to production. Will advise at delivery.

I understand we are buying nice cars but I have one comparison to make that will leave me scratching my head. I'm in the airline industry. When an airline orders lets say a B737, in a lot of cases, that plane will be delivered in less than a year. They have a assembly line just like a car does.

Therefore, my argument is if Boeing can deliver a $40 Million dollar custom made jet to an airline, why the heck can't MB deliver a custom made car in less than 3 months including shipping time? One month to build the cars and 6-8 weeks to ship it.

Just seems odd to me.

Aren't airliners mostly ordered customer specific to a fair extent?

My Cab. finally arrived and I went in on 10 May to take delivery.
The tires were RF's which I refused as I had ordered 20" wheels with high performance tires. Also the window tint and clear bra on front-end and mirrors had not been completed. So I refused the car until all ordered items had been installed. On19 May I received a call "my car is ready". However they did not include the tire repair kit & compressor that comes with the high performance tires. Again we wait.

Nearing the end

Sorry guys for the delay in this tale of woe, but I do have a life.
On 24 May I received a call that the tire repair kit had been placed in the car, so on 25 May I took delivery. That is 7 months and 1 week from the time I had placed the order.
Problems were with the factory who repeatedly stated there is a parts shortage. Also, the dealer who had negligently processed the order.
For comparison I had ordered an Lexus, Ls460L with the executive package and the car was delivered 90 days later exactly as I had ordered, no hassles.
However, I do have to compliment the dealers "concierge" who was most helpful during and after this ordeal. He was knowledgeable and understanding throughout which salvaged the purchase as I was becoming very frustrated. My compliments to him.
As for the Cabriolet I am very satisfied as it is an amazing vehicle without any deficiencies so far.
Next week I leave on a 2K road trip and will report any problems.
End of story.

I have the 20" wheel option (AMG multi's) on my coupe and they call come with ROF's...is this different on the cabs?

I can't speak to the coupes. The Cab 20" are to be equipped with tubless hi-performance tires.
My objection to the RF's is that due to the extremely stiff side walls any slight bump/dip in the pavement jars the entire car. They are horrible riding tires.
Secondly, if they are punctured they must be replaced and cannot be repaired. The only reason the RF's are OEM is to save the manufacturers cost of providing a spare tire.

Tubeless high perf. doesn't necessarily mean non-ROF.

I don't like ROF tires either...I can only imagine how much better my coupe would ride w/o them...probably would use the sport susp setting, which I don't now.

As for the Lexus LS460L, it's a 10 year old sedan, a Toyota made sedan, it should be able to be produced even quicker than a new Benz Cabriolet.
