Burmester High End good or nah?
Got the 3D High End surround sound in my car and really can’t tell that it’s that much greater. Are there settings to optimize the sounds?

I have it in my S65 I feel the difference on sound clarity but I can survive w/o it, came with the package of my vehicle but I will never consider if the vehicle came w/o it. Maybe a sound engineer will enjoy it more than I.

Good Info
I like the standard system over the B&O in the SL too. Also have to consider the fact that apparently due to space the couple and cab. the upgraded "B" system isn't the same as in the sedan. Think I'll be passing it up when I order my car. Thanks for the input everyone.

There are actually 3 kinds of Burmester audio: Base, High End, and High End 3D. The High End system does not include 3D in the Cab since there is no overhead speaker, but MB claim it still has 23 speakers and 1,520 watts. I counted two grills in each front door, three on each rear door panel, one in the back, one in the center console, one in the trunk, and at 13 that's it, so presumably some grills have multiple cones. Coupe has 24 speakers. Sedan spec says 27 but has 3x2 front, 4 top, 2x2 rear, 2 shelf, 1 trunk for 17 that I can see.

High end Burmester system is excellent - compared to standard it has upgraded drivers, more drivers, better amps with more power, and a proper subwoofer in the trunk. It sounds best when set to 3D mode, and with VIP sound on (can set to whichever seat you will b listening from, likely driver for anyone posting on MBWorld). I have not felt the need to adjust the EQ. It can be helpful with certain music - in general if you use it, adjust by cutting rather than boosting, i.e. if you want more bass cut the mid and treble rather than increase the bass.
I think the standard Burmester system uses standard Mercedes drivers and amps, Burmester just supplies the DSP/EQ for the car. It is pretty good for a car system and makes sense to save the $6,400 if you are not an audiophile. It sounded better than the HK system in my previous CLS and B&O systems I've heard in some friends' cars.

New S550 Coupe owner- Burmester HE 3D...
Not an audiophile, but I do listen to a lot of music and do care a lot about the sound system in my car. And for the money, I think the Burmester is OK- it needs more bass- I almost want to add an amp and another thin sub in the back? if it was a 3500-$4000 upgrade- then it would be worth it- HOWEVER these cars are to nice and pricey to have an inferior sound system- so its almost like you "HAVE" to buy it? I have not heard that standard system so I don't have a frame of reference there... IT certainly looks great with the amazingly cool CNC work on the speaker covers and it is LOUD for sure. But i have the bass turned up to 7 midrange -2 - not bad at all- but expected more- the car is over the top.... My Daily is a 2017 VW Golf R and it is the BEST daily driver of all IMO- but I digress- it has a 400 watt Fender system and it is the most perfect sound system I have heard in a car since my 1999 Audi A6 2.7T Bose system- Wunderbar! Also I play music from my Ipod so maybe set the eq to bass may help- or probably make many songs muddy? I dont know - but for the money they are asking- it is not NEAR the depth and nice low end drive of the Mark Levinson in the Lexus...
