2016 S550 coupe: good deal?
As a follow-up to my previous thread in this forum regarding S- versus E-class coupes:
I'm curious as to what you all feel an appropriate, reasonable price would be for a 2016 S550 coupe, CPO / excellent condition as reported, 20k miles, including premium / driver assistance / sports / warmth and comfort packages, designo interior, heated windshield, and Magic Sky Control while still being a "good deal" for that kind of vehicle.
Seems like a pretty good find, all in all, but wonder about what a good deal would be here. $85k out the door? $80k? Lower?

In S. Fl, $85 out the door would be a great price assuming like new condition, clean carfax and popular color (non matte). I've seen some dealers start prices in the mid ninety's and higher for these cars with 5k or so mileage. Lots of price reductions on these cars, however. Section of the country has some effect on prices. Check Kelley prices.

Piggybacking off my own thread:
What would be a good price on a two-year extension of the CPO warranty, and at what point would it no longer be worth it? I have been quoted about $3800 for an additional 24 months after the initial CPO 12 month period expires.

after first 1 yr you can buy 1 or 2 yr policies. after that, nothing else. Cost is dependant on your state. In fl its about 2800 per yr, in other state it ,may be 2100
In some states you get refund if you sell or cancel before the cop is over. So you get the money back.
I think 3800 is ok for 2 yr. Is it worth it? is any warranty worth it? I had a engine lite and they did some work, and it was $12000

I got mine Edition 1 love the dark gray... pretty much perfect condition- only a couple of rock chips that were taken care of I paid 82k + $ 3400 for 2 more years of CPO unlimited miles so it covered for 40 months (35 now) for 86k
I think its a great deal actually for what you get. Would NEVER pay 140k for it (I WOuld get an RS5 for 90k new between the two-) but for 85k and 40 months unlimited miles warranty- Im in.
Oh and I put Xpel film on it for another 2500 that covers the entire front bumper, Logo Hood and rear bumbper- also along the bottom of each rocker panel- I will finish the car out shortly for another 2500
It will look brand new when i sell it in a couple of years...

If going used, a higher-end model maybe an interesting option. Our dealer had a fully loaded 2016 S65 coupe (black/black $240+k msrp) I think around or less than 20k miles for $127k. Stunning car and sold probably for $115 or so...

Aside from a few silly little issues on the car, it's been a huge step up from my previous E-class. I see why people talk about the S as if it's this cross between extremely top-end but with some je ne sais quoi about it.

So, to update my own thread, I ended up going for the S550. Including CPO extension to summer 2023 and transportation fees, I ended up at something like $89k as I recall. My thought was that I'd appreciate a somewhat cushier suspension in comfort mode over the AMG model -- at least as I understand it -- with still gobs of power. Next time around, I figure I'll probably do something like what you said.

Congrats on your purchase! These coupes are beautiful cars. I am currently driving a S560 cabriolet in Europe and get to enjoy it at 160mph

No such thing as too fast
The platform is very stable and built for higher speeds as the AMG model will go 190mph in comfort.
That said, that car is not nearly as good of a top-down driver as the SL. Even with the Aircap (screen above windshield and behind seats), the wind buffeting is quite a bit more than the SL but it also doesn't get worst with speed. Full-speed top down is nearly same as going 80mph.
