Seems odd that there isnt any windshield antennas in the 217. I dont think Ive hasd a car wout them since the 80s

I know there are multiple antennas everywhere. But same in other mb. Still wonder why they avoided in this car. I doubt it has to do with the glass. The side wondows are double pain with tint in the middle. I dont think the windshield could have over a limit of coloring because of dot, world wide rules.

It isn't coloring in the windshield, it's a metallic (gold?) between the layers to reduce UV. It also reduces radio waves thus the the area that you can see if the light is right just above the dash slightly right of center for radar detectors, etc.
