Any radar detector mounting recommendations?
Hi - I am new to this forum having just purchased a 2015 S550 Coupe. It is a beautiful car and am thoroughly enjoying it! Having come from a 2013 Porsche Boxster S, its a bit of a paradigm shift in terms for comfort and torque.
One problem however is that my previous Escort Passport 9500xi radar detector mounting set-up will not work as there is not enough space between windshield and dash to mount it so it can peer through the un-shielded slot in the lower center of the windshield. Also, routing of the power cable is an issue.
I got pulled over already as I accelerated onto a highway and didn't spot a cop behind (unmarked), fortunately, I just got a warning but I fear its a cop magnet a bit like my Porsche was. Plus, the torque gets you into illegal territory in a blink - the cop kindly pointed out that I got up to 80 in "no time".
If anyone has a good solution / set-up they would like to share it would be much appreciated!
I am not too keen on getting one "built-in".
Thanks.

Thanks, really appreciate the response - its good to know it can be made to work. You have a different mounting to me, so i can look into using something like yours. I unfortunately have a more fundamental problem that my cable doesn’t fit into the lighter socket as the active end is too long. I think if i get a new detector, with a smaller connection it will work. Probably time for an upgrade anyway as my escort give a lot of false alarms now with blind sport detection and active cruise control systems.
