In the market for a W116, advice?

Hey guys. I may have found someone who might buy my other car (not my 320) and if that goes out well, I might take up a W116.

I'm hoping to get a 280 W116, or MAYBE a 300SD.

I want to avoid the 450 as much as possible because I don't want the complexity and the thirst and the running costs/maintenance from the 117 V8. Shame though since 450s are the most common it seems.

Any of you guys have any advice you'd like to share? How much should I be looking to pay? This is going to be a daily driver.

Thanks guys!

Get a 6.9!

Just kidding, but the 300SD is a great car. My father had one that he drove over 500k miles with very little maintenance. He drove it until it wouldn't fire anymore, then scrapped it. Properly maintained, that car would have gone another 500k.

Your best bet is a 300SD or a 450. The M117 engines are fantastic, any car you buy will need some refurbishing by this time, but a 450 will outlast a 280.
