Take a bunch of pics and post it on the bay with a reserve..you'll do ok. Make sure the auction ends on a sunday night though at a reasonable hour.

i don't think you have to worry about 'merzadyboy' i doubt he even has a car.

if you look at his posts, he posts stuff about how to be a 'player'. it's hilarious.

That's a very special car, and the more special (and generally, more expensive) a car like that gets, the wider the audience you need to get to for a successful sale. Unless you advertise it as some website that is just full of such cars which this isn't.

Great car, good luck!

Talking My AMG

Thanks for the reply , yes it is a great car and Im sure he just a kid and a Benz. wantabee . Thats OK, He will grow up . Well yes on the wheels , these are the same wheels that were on the car when I got it . may have them restored with a new clear coat . Very few people may only know that these are a rare car and dont really know much about one even if its right under their nose , most think of it as a kit or custom car . It might be , but its threw a top of the line custom shop by AMG . I good collector will know this car and think of it as a sure thing to own and will only go up in the value , dont think it will meet the new price range it was, but you never know . I can get more photos up if you like , just ask . Thanks, Daniel ....

dw

that is certainly a very nice car.

i seriously doubt it cost 100k.

do you not have the original window sticker?

mercedes benz will send you a copy of it and this would verify what was really done to the car.

also what are the codes stamped on the plate just under your hood?

Actually the car would have cost anything between $90,000 - $110,000 back then. Why? Well, the standard 560SEC cost about $70,000 alone. The AMG modifications, body kit, suspension, exhaust and engine, would have easily added a minimum of $20,000 to the price. Back then, AMGs weren't manufactured in the same assembly plant and along the same lines as the standard fare Benzes. You had to purchase a standard Benz and then send the car over to an authorized AMG center to have the mods installed. That cost a lot of $$$ back then.

A Mercedes window sticker will not show AMG upgrades, or what has been to the car by AMG. There are seperate invoices from AMG for that. Many cars were ordered, shipped to AMG NA, and then paid for after the upgrades, after a deposit of course. Unfortunately, the AMG paperwork is not obtainable now as all of the past owner's records have been destroyed according to him. My 1986 car fitted with the 6.0 DOHC would've been around $140K. The DOHC motor was a $43K upgrade. This car has most upgrades done, except the DOHC motor. $100K is probably right on, considering it was a $70K+ car to begin with.

My AMG

Well alot was said there , yes true I do not have the paper work , but did look up on the AMG site with my Vin. number and it came up with the options from AMG , Thats all I need to see for proof . Cost is real close or more than 100K . I have a copy of a 88 560sec AMG Hammer with a cost of 200K with all of its options , that car was white with red leather ,, big sound system in it , DOHC engine , all the trick stuff from AMG . Believe me and others who know these cars , an AMG of this class did cost 100K in 87 . Thanks for the replys , Daniel

Yours appears to have U.S. bumpers, so I didn't know if it was euro or not. Mine was a U.S. car ordered by then Prince Abdullah II (of Jordan) while he was in school here in the U.S. and converted at AMG NA so it probably won't work on the site you mention...

VERY nice car. Especially B/C it's a rare AMG version. Hold on to it; It's a keeper. I'd buy one if I had the garage space.

this tells the real story.

for some of you newbie owners,i do know these cars boys, that's why i would like to know the option codes.

i can also help you verify a vin at the russian site [u.s. car or not]

there are a lot of bulls-hitters about there cars.

show us you aren't one of them.

post the plate codes, we'll know what you really have.

you never responded to my comment about asking M.B. for a copy of your window sticker-BTW it will list amg mods

it's a nice car, i'd like to know for sure if it's real.

maybe i'm thinking of buying it.

I have a copy of my car's window sticker and it doesn't show one thing about it being AMG or having AMG upgrades. The plate will not show AMG options, only Mercedes factory options. This may not be the same for Euro cars, but U.S. cars, converted by AMG NA, do not show options on the plate. BTW, this is the message I get with that russian site:
"Datacard WDBCA............... not found
1) VIN was incorrectly introduced in the form of demand;
2) VIN was incorrectly rewritten from the documents or from the body of automobile;
3) VIN was changed in the documents or on the body by criminals.
4) The automobile is made in 2004 or 2005, is not included yet in a database

Here's the site:
http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/index.html?lng=eng

I tried the method you said but still get the same message. My VIN starts with WDBCA45D9GA...... Are you suggesting I try WDB1265D9GA...... or another method? I though euro VIN's had no letters after the WDB. At least my '83 500 Euro SEC does not...
