hey saleen

What a beautiful car you have there! they just dont make them like they used to...

Why dont you give these people a try -

http://www.copleymotorcars.com/index.html

talk to them, they seem to have a huge interest (and love) for older, RARE cars! and I think I remember reading that they have their cars advertised in many different parts of the country.

just look at that ridiculously priced 500E HAHhahahah!

Check it out and good luck!

My AMG

Only thing i see there is the middle man who wants their cut in the price of the car , dont want to really go threw a dealer like that , rather just a collector buy it , I could go threw the big auction in Auburn, In , but there again a middleman . Thanks for the reply and site sent , for now will wait till the spring to see what will happen ........... . ...........Daniel

ebennz

ebennz, you show how little you know about these cars by what you say. perhaps you know a lot about post 1993 cars, but w126s DO NOT HAVE official AMG-BENZ connection. the tags under the hood say NOTHING about AMG, as these cars were ordered finished from MB, then shipped to AMG (these cars easily broke the $100k price point, mine being about $120,000 and was a renntech, easily $10000 cheaper than AMG). A few very rare cars were ordered straigt from benz factory, but they still won't show WHICH mods were done by AMG.

If I could slightly move the subject for a moment, I am trying to tighten the ride of my 88 W126 sedan and want to find out if AMG made a larger rear sway bar for that car? All of the factory bars are the same part number so upgrading is no help. Looking to see if a hunt for an AMG bar would be the solution.

I have already completed the complete sportline upgrade for the car with the exception of the sway bar and moved to 17" Monoblocks and Pilots

Any help appreciated.

Let us know if there is such (AMG) for the W126... I just might consider it. I like it as it is, but I'm curious.

McBear, how's the ride?

500E's
I have just got it completed and we had two days of rain and tornados so I am waiting on a clear day to make a run. The drive from shop to home was very nice. I kept the comfort Bilsteins on and put the H&R Sport Springs. I also replaced all of the suspension bushings with equivilant of my 300E Sportline components to insure that was the same and got it aligned.

The monoblocks and Pilots are great. I will post up on your thread as soon as I get a good 100 mile run this weekend. Going driving in the mountains unless it snows. It was 70 yesterday.

Hey Saleen, I may have owned the only SEC AMG that was nicer than yours!

I owned it a few years ago, a perfect 91 560SEC with only 16,000 original miles on it. (black Pearl/Gray) I traded it to a dealer for a new 2002 M5. I saw the car being advertised a few months later for like $49,000. It had the full body kit, but none of the AMG mechanical components. As someone else mentioned on this string, the Sticker didn't mention the AMG stuff as this was done after the sale by AMG of North America.

I also had a 1986 with the full kit, trick trans, exhaust, etc. Same deal. All done after purchase by AMG of North America in Westmont IL.

Nice car you have there. I love 90 & 91 SECs and SELs.

560

WoW , that is low miles, 16K . So now looking back is the M5 worth the sell of the 560 you had , Both are nice and for sure the M5 is way newer and more Hi-tech . Just cant beat a low mile well kept 560 . Wonder if it sold at 49K ??

Thanks for the reply , DW

Well, the trouble is there are too many cars.. and not enough time -- or storage space!

The M5 was a blast. They are great cars and as far as I'm concerned, the workmanship and feel of the 2000 -2004 BMWs make the same year Benz's feel like crap. These Bimmers feel like Benzs used to feel. 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds... it was a lot of fun to drive.

But like everything else, it's now gone (for a few years already) and I am once again looking for a super clean low mile SEC. So was it worth it? Yes and No. I wish I had my AMG back.

What I would really like is a bone stock, pristine car with under 50K on it. Black, Pearl Black, Smoke SIlver are the favorite colors. Would consider an AMG car as well.

If anyone knows of an unmolested original, pristine, babied, perfect car that is available, please email me at vulpro@yahoo.com

Thanks!

300E
Question guys, I have this 300E euro spec, with several AMG options that are on the option list from MB in 1992, the car went for about 85000 US. Some say the car is not amg because it doesn't have the AMG logo on the vin plate can you guys help me out. I'm also selling the car too and looking for a good owner. I'm pretty sure no engine mods were done but it has the suspension and also exhaust system. I'd like to contact AMG but haven't recieved a response back from them. Please help me out a little because they're are a lot of people hating on my car.
