Exclamation Dumb Question what is the difference between SE/SEL ?

Hi this is probably a really dumb question but what is the difference between the SE and SEL model ?

Is the SEL just a long wheel base as the SLC is a coupe version ? Are they fundementally the same in the workings ie engine/suspensions/transmission?

The length, SEL is a few inches longer, more leg room for the rear passengers. Everything else is pretty much the same.

SLC is the coupe as what CL class is now.

Actually, the CL class is today's equivalent of the SEC. Today's SLC equivalent doesn't exist, if it did, it would be a hard top R230 with a slightly longer wheelbase, and rear seats to make it a true coupe.

I thought the SEC was the replacement of the SLC which was a coupe as well, with 2 seats in the back.

Maybe so, I think you're right. I'll have to look into that, since SLC production did end in 1981 and SEC production began in 1982.
