It isn't an AMG, well unless their is an AMG engine under the hood! I don't see the body kit or anything else AMG.

I think the wheels are knock off's, I'm not a big fan of chrome either. But to each their own.

Very sharp looking car though, nice limo tint!

I am not a tech, but the C43 V8 has totally different electronics than a W126. It is not a matter of the size of the engine, but whether you could get all the computers/controllers to "talk" to each other. Same with the transmission....all electronic.

There is no way that the W126 ECU will support the newer generation V8, without some major custom software.

Good luck!

Isn't the C43 pretty much a W202 with an M113 stuck in it?

You could get a newer engine in a W126 I have seen M120's stuck in them.

It requires a lot of skill and a bit of money, it really isn't practical to pay someone to do the conversion. Just buy a new E55 if you are going that route.

Getting it to work as a complete and quality package is the part where skill comes in.

besides new motor mounts engine tranny ecu, and diff, what else would have to be changed? I figure you could get a 560 sel for 4-6k a c43 tranny/motor/ecu/diff for around 6k, install 3k? that is fairly low budget compared to a new e55 or even a c43.... does anyone have sites or threads to the projects where 126s get newer bigger engines?

I have been beating this drum for quite some time. I have a 88 SEL with a perfect body, and an interior exactly where I want it. Brakes and suspension are just right. All I have wanted to do is drop a better-larger-different motor/tranny in the system. No one seems to have done it or wants to. The question always comes down to it won't hook into the 126 ECU.

My question has always been...fine, bypass the 126 ecu and drive an ECU for the new motor/tranny combo.

Does anyone have a map of the ECU so that an understanding could be had of the way it handles disparate systems?

To the original question, that car looks very good. Looks to me like the monoblocks might be real, just chrome but I don't think it is an AMG.

I have seen the v-12 in a 126 coupe.
I have seen a 500 motor in a 124.
I have seen a diesel in a 126 coupe.

If you get all of the electronics, all of the running gear, and the donor car for brackets mounts, and mountings and ... It can be done. It can be expensive, unless you can the donor cheap. A roll over perhaps.

Seen a blower unit sticking from the hood of a 126 coupe with custom headers.

not a big fan of the SEL's, I'm more and SEC when it comes to W126's.

this is a clean example of an SEL though nonetheless. It could be lowered in the front a bit but I'd give it a 9.5 rating.

very clean

9 out of 10, lower the car a lil' and i dont care for chrome monoblocks. I do love the SEL body style, classic BENZ no mistaking it!
