*-Does anyone have the rubber piece that goes around the shifter?-*

I wanted to know if anyone had the rubber piece that goes around the shifter? The part number is: 126 683 01 57 . I read on another forum that you can't order this from the dealer. You'd have to order the whole wood console. My rubber piece is dried out and I'm looking for another one. If anyone has one in excellent condition or know's where to get one please let me know. (I have a '85 380SE)

Here's some pictures of the rubber piece I'm talking about:

I think you could get a chrome one to cover it. You could look at some savaged MB junkyard. Most of the time, the interior suffered little damge.

I have been looking for one as well, but the problem is they are all old and shot.

The wood runs about $312, I just bought a new center console piece for my friends SDL. New wood looks nice, very nice I may buy some for my car!

Gotta love MB for this. They make you spend $300+ if you need a $.50 rubber piece. hah.

Actually out of all the car makes I have delt with MB is the best with parts support for the older cars. I can walk into the dealer and order .50 cent clips and have them the next day for a 30 year old car. Try that at the local GM or Toyota dealer. They can't get half the parts for my dads F150 work truck and it is only a 1994.

Besides once you get past the price, the new wood is stunning. I am debating replacing all the wood on the SDL. It looks so good I can almost justify the $1k outlay, but not quite yet...

Mercedes
You can try the numerous parts vedors online. Just google mercedes parts and you'll find a ton of vedors. You can just type in the part # on their site.

I've tried that already and haven't found any online vendor with the part # I'm looking for. If you have found one please post up the link here.

Screw the online places they can only get simple parts like brake rotors, and kick down switches. Most of them get their stuff from two sources, Worldpac or various MB dealers.

This is a dealer part, I have gone to two dealers looking for it and MB does not sell that part seperatly. Actually that isn't a good part number anymore as well.

So MB does not sell that part.

Shame to.

Yes, I know. I tried the dealership and tried online. No where has it. If I want it I'd have to buy the whole wood console. I just wanted to see where Chi500 thinks I can get the part.
