wheel bearing question

Hey all
I own a '86 420 SEC
just got some new front wheel bearings as the old ones are shot.
i dont have a workshop manual yet (hard to find in oz) and was wondering what the torque on the nut should be and how much 'play' the disk should have.

using the search function here i have seen that the nut should be done up tight and then wound back a 3rd of a turn, is this correct?

I have a dial gauge to check the amount of movement of the disk (machinist by trade) what should it be within?

much appreciated

Nik
