somebody who know's 560sec
can somebody tell me where i can learn more information about a 1986 560 ec and what i should look for when purchasing one? i am thinking about getting one for about 3 grand. its a 1986 with 120000 miles. is this car worth this much and will it hold its value?

food for thought
That sounds a little inexpensive for a car that you won't have any problems with. Check to see what, if any service records exist and who did the service(s).They can be a great vehicle, but if the services haven't been done regularly....I'd keep looking. Regular oil changes, transmission services, at that mileage probably a timing chain change for starters would be the things to look for.
The coupes hold their value better than the sedans of the same vintage......and the parts for the coupes are typically more expensive.
REMEMBER>>>>>>You don't get what you don't pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i saw a few on ebay and i noticed people really dont care about milage on these cars. i think i will buy one now and keep it for a few years fixing it along the way and then sell it for the same price. is that a workable idea?

Quite a few:)
I agree...I'd be Quite leary of any SEC for 3K unless I Knew the cars history very, very well. Chances are that car is going to need 2-3 times that to get it back to proper/reasonable spec.
Do yourself a favour, save your $$$ and buy the very best, well maintained example you can find. You'll save yourself a small fortune over the long haul.

+1.
Start off at mbcoupes.com and there are other resources on the web too. Don't get a cheap one, i.e. not well cared for, because you'll end up paying a lot more later...
