CLK 430 Coupe
'89 Autobahn Edition 300 SEL

So I'm not too familiar with the SEL's and I had a friend purchase one recently and it presented a few questions for me.

He called it the "Autobahn Edition" and said that it was a special model produced in '89. This car was in immaculent condition and was absolutely beautiful. It also had drilled and slotted rotors and he told me that those were OEM.

Was there really a Autobahn Edition 300 SEL?
Did any SEL models come with drilled and slotted rotors as factory equipment?
And were there any tell tell signs to distinguish '89 models?

Thanks for all the responses in advance guys

Quite a few:)
I have never heard nor seen any Autobahn edition.. It sounds rather oxymornic..Autobahn ed. for a 300??? If anything I'd wager they would have made one out of a 560.

No, no 126to my knowledge ever came from the factory w/ drilled or slotted rotors.

89's are a weird year...6/89 was a cross over for the interior update including the 10 speaker stereo, pass. side air bag and center console box.

No. The most powerful European version was the non-catalyst 560 SEL with 300 horses. There were no factory cars like that produced in 1989.
