1990 560 SEL weird problem

If the ambiant temp is UNDER 50F the car runs fine.
If the temp goes over 70, she runs great for 3-4 miles, then throttle response is nill then sputter, sputter die. (it will idle though)
The odd thing, is it'll restart without problem, and i'm able to carry on or another 3-4 miles.
what, pray tell do I fix? coil is new, new OVP and idle relay
