1985 500sel Euro model
Hi I just bought this 500sel and the front grill is different then most Ive seen It has the big circle with the star in the middle. http://bend.craigslist.org/cto/1460587129.html

Wow, no one’s responded in all this time? Jeez.
Without the pic I can’t say for sure but it sounds like someone affixed an SEC (coupe) grill to a sedan. It is not OEM and considered tacky.
Proper sedan grills are fairly cheap and easy to install. I assume you still have your hood star.
