New Benz Owner - '88 420SEL
My dad and I went halves on it.

138,000 miles. Automatic, but that's alright with me for once. New brakes all around, the thing runs mint. Came with some nice snow tires. The previous owner bought it in Florida and had owned it for the past five years. Being a Florida car, the underbody is nice and solid. There's three spots of surface rust on the quarter panels that we are going to address within the next few weeks.

I'm just so impressed with how it drives, it's honestly fantastic - especially with how used I am to my rough, bare-bones Saturn. It's like sitting back and letting the car pull the earth past you. Once I make sure everything's in order, it will make a great road trip car - I'm planning on taking it to Boston a few weekends from now if everything checks out.
Funny, my dad and I were just talking about finding some cool, older cruising car. It was completely by chance that I found it on Saturday.

Nice MB you have there! Its the same colors (inside and out) as mine! Mine is a 300SEL (6-cylinder though). My car also from Florida (1988-1998), then in Atlanta until 2006, then South Carolina, now here in Tennessee.
Do you know if the timing chain guides and rails have been replaced in yours? Thats really the only thing you should be sure of on the V8 Mercedes.... if those are up to date, this car will go 300K easily if maintained and well cared for.
Oh, see what I mean, here are pics of mine (manufactured 2/88)
