380 SL/ 240D stick/ 420 SEL
420 SEL PROBLEM/FUEL OR ELECTRICAL?
1988 420 SEL 173,000 MILES. SAT FOR FIVE YEARS. STARTS AND RUNS O.K..UPON SUDDEN ACCELERATION IT STALLS AS IF TO DIE. AFTER WARMED UP AND DRIVING ALONG A SLOW DOWN AND RIGHT HAND TURN KILLS IT; IT SEEMS TO START UP O.K. AND THE IDLE RACES BEFORE DROPPING DOWN, ABOUT 3 SECONDS.
I'M AT A LOSS TO FIGURE THIS OUT. CHANGED FUEL FILTER AND ONE OF THE TWO PUMPS, GAS LOOKED BAD ABOUT THREE GALLONS. PUT IN SOME INJECTOR CLEANER AND 15 GAL OF 92 OCTANE. CHANGED THE CAP AND ROTOR. BOTH THE OVERVOLTAGE AND PUMP RELAYB ARE NEW. H-E-L-P!!

90 VW VR Corrado, 87 VW Jetta Coupe, 87 Mercedes 420SEL
Mine was doing the same problem when I bought it. I replaced the fuel pump relay and the red topped relay under the hood. Runs great now
